COMET C/2006 Q1 (McNAUGHT)
    R. H. McNaught reports his discovery of a comet (discovery observation
tabulated below) on CCD images obtained with the 0.5-m Uppsala Schmidt in
the course of the Siding Spring Survey, noting a ~8" coma in poor seeing.
Following position on the NEO Confirmation Page, additional observations were
obtained as follows: McNaught (20" coma in deep exposures on Aug. 21.77 UT);
S. Bruzzone (Los Molinos, 0.46-m f/2.8 reflector + CCD); C. Jacques and
E. Pimentel (CEAMIG-REA Observatory, Belo Horizonte, 0.30-m f/3.0
Schmidt-Cassegrain + CCD); and J. Young (Table Mountain Observatory,
Wrightwood, 0.61-m f/16 Cassegrain + CCD). Young described the object as
having a round 8" coma with a hint of central condensation, but no tail.
